Overview
The Megger MIT1525/2 Advanced 15kV HV Insulation Resistance Tester is the most powerful model in Megger’s Advanced range, delivering up to 15kV of test voltage when assessing insulation integrity in large motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, and high-voltage cables.
The MIT1525/2 is able to measure insulation resistance up to 30TΩ with exceptional accuracy and stability, even in electrically noisy conditions. It supports a full suite of diagnostic tests such as Polarisation Index (PI), Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR), Dielectric Discharge (DD), Stepped Voltage (SV), Ramp Test, and PDC (Polarisation Depolarisation Current) analysis when used with Megger’s PowerDB software. These advanced features provide deep insights into insulation condition, helping users detect early signs of deterioration and decide how to handle maintenance. The MIT1525/2 also includes a guard terminal, which eliminates surface leakage currents and improves measurement precision in contaminated or humid environments.
The MIT1525/2 has selectable test voltages of 1000V, 2500V, 5000V, 10,000V, and 15,000V, providing flexibility across a wide range of applications. It includes a voltmeter for measuring AC/DC voltages up to 660V, capacitance measurement from 10nF to 25µF, and leakage current detection from 0.01nA to 6mA. With up to 6mA of noise rejection, the MIT1525/2 performs reliably in high-interference environments such as substations and industrial plants. With a real-time clock and advanced onboard memory, users are able to store time/date-stamped results, which can then be transferred to a PC via USB for analysis and reporting with ease.
The MIT1525/2 features a large, high-contrast backlit display that is readable in all lighting conditions and includes an intuitive interface with dual rotary switches as well as a graphical quick-start guide printed inside the lid, making setup and operation easy, even for first-time users. It is powered by a rapid-charge lithium-ion battery that provides extended testing time and can be recharged in under 2.5 hours. Importantly, the MIT1525/2 is able to operate directly from AC mains power, allowing uninterrupted testing even when the battery is fully depleted.
The MIT1525/2 is designed with safety and durability in mind, boasting a CAT IV 1000V safety rating and certified for operation at altitudes up to 3000 metres. It comes in a rugged dual-case construction that includes a tough outer shell and a fire-retardant inner case, while an IP65 rating (with lid closed) protects it against dust and moisture ingress. The lids are removable and have Velcro-secured pouches to keep accessories organised and accessible, as well as improve access to terminals during testing. Another safety feature is the five-tier voltage warning system that alerts users to hazardous conditions and an automatic capacitive discharge that ensures safe handling post-test.
The MIT1525/2 comes complete with two sets of 3-metre test leads (one with medium clips and one with large clips rated for 15 kV), a power lead, a screened USB cable, a quick-start label, and a calibration certificate.
